And so it begins....
Walking to Holmes Chapel
A five mile round walk into Holmes Chapel, stopping off along Hermitage Lane to take in the views of Jodrell Bank in the distance. It was a nice new years day walk to clear the head from the previous nights celebrations and at a more sedate pace compared to the exertions planned for the weeks and months ahead.
Shying away from a 'Dry January' in favour of a 'Damp January', involving the cutting back of alcohol consumption compared to the festive excesses but maintaining a smaller social presence in the local drinking establishments, I headed towards the Old Red Lion in Holmes Chapel for a well deserved tipple at the midpoint of the walk. Beyond there being a nice pub and a pleasant walking route there was another factor in the choice of the trail.... a filming location!
To keep myself enthused within the running challenge I have decided to attempt to re-enact some running scenes from films. The first running scene being that from Forest Gump. The setting for this filming was at the junction of Hermitage Land and Twemlow Lane. Chosen for the old gate posts that are meant to represent the gate posts in the film itself. So armed with my fancy dress I set-off on my journey.
Filming of the Forest Gump scene was completed on the way to the pub, where I reviewed the footage with my first beer of the year.
Happy with the recorded footage and content with my beer, I began the return leg of the maiden voyage.
